Terms of Use

These Terms of Use ("Terms") are a binding agreement between you ("you", "your") and zlin.io ("zlin.io", "we", "us", "our"), the operator of the URL shortening and link-analytics service made available at zlinio.com and through short links on the zlin.io domain (together, the "Service"). By creating an account, checking the acceptance box at sign-up, or otherwise accessing or using the Service or its API, you confirm that you have read, understood, and agree to be bound by these Terms and by our Privacy Policy. If you do not agree, do not use the Service.

1. Eligibility

You must be at least 18 years old, or the age of majority in your jurisdiction, and have the legal capacity to enter into a contract. If you use the Service on behalf of an organization, you represent that you are authorized to bind that organization to these Terms, and "you" refers to that organization.

2. The Service

The Service lets you create shortened links, optionally with custom codes and QR codes, redirect visitors to a destination URL, and view aggregated click analytics. We offer a free plan and one or more paid ("Pro") plans with expanded limits and features. We may add, change, suspend, or discontinue any part of the Service at any time without liability to you.

3. Accounts and security

• You must provide accurate information and keep it up to date. One account is for one person or organization; you are responsible for all activity under your account.
• You are responsible for safeguarding your password and any API tokens, and for any use made of them. Notify us immediately of any unauthorized use.
• We are not liable for any loss arising from your failure to keep your credentials confidential.

4. Plans, limits and fair use

• The free plan allows a limited number of active short links (currently 10). Paid plans raise or remove that limit as described at checkout.
• The Service is subject to technical and fair-use limits, including rate limits, a maximum number of links you may create per period, limits on the volume and frequency of analytics/statistics queries and API requests, and limits on URL and code length. We may set, modify, meter, throttle, or enforce these limits at our sole discretion and without prior notice, in order to protect the stability, security, and cost-sustainability of the Service.
• We may reclaim inactive short codes and may decline to create links that we reasonably believe are abusive.

5. Acceptable Use Policy

You agree not to use the Service, and not to allow anyone else to use it, to do any of the following. Breaching this section is a material breach of these Terms.

• No illegal activity. Do not use the Service for any unlawful purpose or to link to, host, distribute, or facilitate access to content or activities that are illegal under any applicable law.
• No harmful or deceptive links. Do not shorten or distribute links to malware, ransomware, phishing, scams, fraud, deceptive or misleading pages, cloaking, or content that impersonates others.
• No spam or abuse. Do not use the Service to send or facilitate unsolicited bulk messaging, spam, or to artificially inflate clicks or analytics.
• No infringing or harmful content. Do not link to content that infringes intellectual property or privacy rights, or that is defamatory, harassing, sexually exploitative of minors, or that promotes violence or hate.
• No reselling. Do not resell, sublicense, rent, lease, white-label, or otherwise commercially redistribute the Service, its shortening, redirect, analytics, or API capabilities to third parties, in whole or in part, without our prior written permission.
• No circumvention or overload. Do not bypass or attempt to bypass any limit, quota, rate limit, security measure, or authentication; do not scrape, run abusive automation, denial-of-service, load-testing, or otherwise place an unreasonable burden on the Service or its infrastructure.
• No reverse engineering. Except where this restriction is prohibited by law, do not decompile, reverse engineer, or attempt to derive the source code of the Service.

You are solely responsible for the destination URLs and content behind every link you create, and for compliance with all laws applicable to that content in every place where it is accessed.

6. API use

API access is provided as a Pro feature through opaque bearer tokens (in the form zlx_…). A token is shown to you once and stored only as a hash; keep it secret and treat it like a password. You must not share tokens, embed them in client-side code, or use them to exceed applicable rate limits. We may rate-limit, revoke, or rotate tokens, and we may change, deprecate, or remove API endpoints at any time. Your use of the API is subject to all of these Terms, including the Acceptable Use Policy.

7. Your links and content

You retain ownership of the destination URLs and content you submit. You grant us a worldwide, non-exclusive, royalty-free license to host, store, process, transmit, redirect, and display that content solely as needed to operate and improve the Service. We do not monitor, endorse, or guarantee any destination content, and we may remove or disable any link at any time, with or without notice, if we believe it violates these Terms or applicable law, or poses a risk to the Service or others.

8. Intellectual property

The Service, including its software, design, trademarks, and content (excluding your destination content), is owned by zlin.io and protected by law. These Terms grant you a limited, revocable, non-exclusive, non-transferable right to use the Service in accordance with them. No other rights are granted.

9. Suspension and termination

• By us. We may suspend, restrict, disable, or terminate your account or any link at any time, with or without notice, and at our sole discretion, including if we believe you have violated these Terms (in particular the Acceptable Use Policy), if required by law, to protect the Service, other users, or third parties, or if your use creates legal or financial risk for us.
• No refund. If we terminate your account for a violation of these Terms, you are not entitled to any refund of fees already paid.
• By you. You may stop using the Service at any time.
• Effect. On termination, your right to use the Service ends immediately, your short links may stop resolving, and we may delete your data subject to our Privacy Policy and applicable law. Sections that by their nature should survive (including ownership, disclaimers, limitation of liability, and indemnity) survive termination.

10. Disclaimers

THE SERVICE IS PROVIDED "AS IS" AND "AS AVAILABLE", WITHOUT WARRANTIES OF ANY KIND, EXPRESS OR IMPLIED, INCLUDING MERCHANTABILITY, FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE, AND NON-INFRINGEMENT. We do not warrant that the Service will be uninterrupted, error-free, secure, or available, and we provide no uptime or availability guarantee, in particular for free plans. You use the Service at your own risk.

11. Limitation of liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, zlin.io and its operators, owners, and suppliers will not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, exemplary, or punitive damages, or for any loss of profits, revenue, data, goodwill, or business, arising out of or related to the Service or these Terms, even if advised of the possibility. To the maximum extent permitted by law, our total aggregate liability for all claims relating to the Service will not exceed the greater of (a) the amounts you paid us for the Service in the three (3) months before the event giving rise to the claim, or (b) USD 50.00.

12. Indemnification

You agree to defend, indemnify, and hold harmless zlin.io and its operators from and against any claims, liabilities, damages, losses, and expenses (including reasonable legal fees) arising out of or related to your use of the Service, your links or content, or your violation of these Terms or of any law or third-party right.

13. Third-party destinations and services

The Service redirects to destinations and relies on third-party infrastructure providers. We do not control and are not responsible for third-party websites, destinations, or services, including their content, availability, or practices. Accessing any destination link is at your own risk.

14. Changes to these Terms

We may update these Terms from time to time. When we do, we will revise the "Last updated" date above and, where appropriate, provide additional notice. Changes are effective when posted. Your continued use of the Service after changes take effect constitutes acceptance of the updated Terms. If you do not agree, you must stop using the Service.

15. Governing law and jurisdiction

These Terms are governed by the laws of the Federative Republic of Brazil, without regard to conflict-of-law rules. You agree that any dispute arising out of or relating to the Service or these Terms will be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the competent courts of Brazil. These Terms are written in English, which is the controlling language; any translation is provided for convenience only.

16. General

If any provision of these Terms is held unenforceable, the remaining provisions remain in effect. Our failure to enforce a provision is not a waiver. You may not assign these Terms without our consent; we may assign them as part of a merger, acquisition, or sale of assets. These Terms, together with the Privacy Policy, are the entire agreement between you and us regarding the Service.
